Player Code of Conduct
- Players will treat everyone in the chat with polite respect and courtesy at all times. Playful banter is fine, but if someone asks that it stop, it must stop immediately.
- Out of Character language and topics of discussion will not be restricted overall, but must be toned down or abandoned upon request of anyone in the chat. In-Character language and topics of discussion, as with all other in-character actions, are met only with in-character consequences.
- Each player will have one and only one player account, and will abide by the limitations for character types and numbers presented.
- Players will abide by rulings set forth by the Storytellers. A player who finds a ruling made during a scene disagreeable may bring up the disagreement in a respectful manner, but must not argue his case beyond the Storyteller's final ruling within the scene. A player who is still in disagreement with the ruling after the scene has finished may lodge a grievance with a Storyteller of his choice, which will then be taken before the team as a whole.
- Players should conduct themselves with an eye to not only their own fun, but to everyone else's. When arguments occur, try to step back and see things from the other person's point if view. If a player finds he is too upset to continue with reasonable conversation, he should take the time to log out and cool off. Storytellers may enforce this if it becomes necessary.
- Players will be allowed exit from any scene they reasonably find too uncomfortable to continue, or in the event of real life necessity. It is the player's responsibility not to abuse this privilege. In the event that a character's life is in question, the character's part in the scene and his consequent possibility of death will be resolved before the character next enters play. The Storyteller may decide to lock the scene and resume when all players are available at his discretion.
- Scenes that involve highly objectionable content (rape, torture, atrocities of any kind) require consent from every person present in the scene before they can continue. Any person present in the scene reserves the right to revoke that consent and leave the scene at any time. This does not negate the chance of character death, if one exists; in such a case, the presiding Storyteller will work with those involved to resolve the character's fate without further focus on the objectionable content.
- Players will do their best to not metagame. Some metagaming is inevitable, and even helpful or necessary in situations such as keeping one's own character's separate despite in-character impetus to do otherwise; however, one should never willingly and knowingly use Out of Character information to further their own characters' (or worse, their player's) agendas.
- No Mommy-Daddying. If a player receives a ruling he doesn't like from one Storyteller, he cannot go to another Storyteller and present the argument all over again in hopes of a better ruling. A player wanting to appeal a ruling must go to another Storyteller and inform them of the previous ruling, and request that the matter be brought before the Storytelling team as a whole for a consensus decision.
- Players must be willing to work with Storytellers in regards to their characters. Storytellers reserve the right to refuse to sanction any character if they feel it is not suited for play, until and unless it becomes so. Storytellers reserve the right to disallow any experience expenditure or scene request if they feel sufficient justification has not been provided. After sanctioning, Venue Storytellers reserve the right to work with players to make alterations to their characters if doing so is necessary to maintain the balance of the game.
- Player Character skins are sacrosanct. Approaching a Storyteller logged in as such for the purposes of Storyteller business is strictly prohibited unless the Storyteller himself allows it. Please remember that Storytellers are people too, and deserve the time to relax and just be players.
- Final Recourse: If a player has lodged a greivance with a Storyteller that he doesn't feel has been heard adequately or believes has not been brought before the Storytelling team, he may bring his complaint directly to the chat Administrator. This should never be a player's first resort, and if the grievance has not been put through the proper channels already it will likely be redirected. If the grievance is legitimate and has not been properly heard despite the player's attempts to have it so, then it will be given full consideration and a final response.
- Names and Icons used in the chat are a privilege, not a right. If your character is unsanctioned and you are logged in with that name, you can only use the X icon. Once your character is sanctioned, you can only use an appropriate icon for that character. If you are playing your character, the character's name as listed on his character sheet must be entered into the "Real Name" field on his profile at all times. OOC logins may futz around as they will, so long as names used are not inflammatory.
- You must be at least 18 years old to play in this chat. All characters played must also be at least 18. By playing in this chat you state your understanding that this game contains adult content.
