Icon Key

Characters in Heroes of Creation are allowed the unprecedented freedom of changing their names, icons, and profiles to suit the situation, like a person changes clothes. There are, of course, a few rules governing this. A character must always have his real name (the name listed on his character sheet) listed in the "Real Name" field of his profile if it is not currently his nickname. All characters must have a description listed in their profile while playing, though this description may be freely changed to suit in-game circumstances, such as disguises, illusions, and shapeshifting. Apparant gender, age, strength, charisma, appearance, and visible equipment should always be displayed. The icon a character wears should be chosen to best reflect what others can either immediately see about the character, or are expected to already know; for example, a known lunar amongst other lunars can wear the icon of his caste, but if he is not obviously a lunar and surrounded by people who don't know his nature, one of the mundane icons is much more appropriate.

General Icons

The Storyteller Icon is for Storyteller use only. The Out of Character Icon may be used freely, but only in OOC rooms. Unsanctioned characters are required to use the Unsanctioned Icon, and cannot enter play until they have been Sanctioned by a Storyteller.

Mundane Icons

Mundane Icons are ideal for use by characters whose natures are either truly mundane (as much as one can be in Exalted, anyway), or do not appear to be Supernatural. These icons may not be used by characters whose appearances are clearly Supernatural. Characters may only use icons appropriate to their appearance; for example, you should not use Linowan icons if you have green hair, any more than you should use the savant/scholar icon if you appear to be a musclebound sellsword.

Supernatural Icons

Supernatural icons are ideal for use by those whose identities (true or otherwise) are obviously supernatural in some way. High Breeding, obvious tattoos, and openly wearing artifacts can all qualify-- though the last does not necessitate a supernatural icon unless the artifacts are uniformly of an "anathema" metal. Characters whose animas are currently flaring are encouraged to use the caste/aspect-specific icons for while their nature is out on display. Characters who are obviously supernatural but not showing off their caste are welcome to use the more generic icons.

Side Game Icons

Currently we have only one official side game in Heroes of Creation: Dreams of the First Age. Sanctioned characters for this side game should all wear the following icon.
